Pre-Operative Instructions
(For in-office anesthesia or sedation)
MORNING OF SURGERY:
Do not have anything to eat or drink for a minimum of 6 hours prior to surgery. This is very important! No water, coffee, tea, juice, etc. Feel free to brush your teeth as you would normally. Wear comfortable clothing. Please wear a short-sleeved shirt or blouse and closed toe shoes (No sandals). Do not wear contact lenses. Please remove all jewelry.
PRE-OPERATIVE MEDICATION:
If you have been instructed to take pre-operative medications, you may take them with a few sips of plain water. No other liquids please!
POST-OPERATIVE MEDICATION (S):
If prescribed medication(s) make sure to pick them up prior to the scheduled surgery date.
ESCORT:
Arrange for a relative or friend to drive you to and from the surgery, as well as stay with you at home after the surgery until you have recovered adequately. We will ask that your escort wait in their car while you are in surgery. The assistant will bring you out to them once the surgery is complete, they will be given written and verbal instruction for your care.
DISCHARGE:
You will be asked to go straight home when you leave the office. Do not plan to do any errands on the way home. If you stay with a friend or other family member, please make sure you furnish our office with the proper phone number where you can be reached. Our office makes routine post-operative calls to check on your progress.
